How To Include Backgrounds in your eBay Listing

It's very simple to make your eBay listing stand out in the crowd and make it recognizable as your own. If you haven't read my post below about creating a logo for yourself, please do. Then create a background and you will have your own listing template that will help to brand you and make your internet identity unique and instantly recognizable.

To create a solid colored background on your auction page you will need to enter your entire auction description into a table. Place the following HTML code at the very beginning of your auction description. You will need to substitute the XXXXXX with the desired hex color code. This link will open a color chart for you.

<table width="100%" cellpadding="15" cellspacing="0" BGCOLOR="#XXXXXX">
<tr><td>

Type your auction content here

Include these closing table tags after your entire auction description...

</td></tr></table>

If you want to use an image as a background you need to make a slight change to your table tag...

<table width="100%" cellpadding="15" cellspacing="0" background=http://URL of Image>
<tr><td>

Type your auction content here

Include these closing table tags after your entire auction description...

</td></tr></table>

If you want to use one of the popular left border backgrounds, set your table up as below.

<table width="100%" background=http://URL of Image>

<tr><td width="125"> </td><td>

Type your auction content here. Set the TABLE WIDTH to 100% which equals the whole page. The WIDTH for the first TABLE DATA (TD) column is 125, an absolute value in pixels. You will need to adjust this to match the width of your graphic border. The WIDTH for the second TABLE DATA (TD) column is not set as it will be the rest of the page.

Include these closing table tags after your entire auction description...

</td></tr></table>
